This past weekend, GJP partnered with Fulton County District Attorney, Fani Willis, to hold a record restriction (commonly known as “expungement”) event in Fulton County. Georgia’s new expungement law, which went into effect in January of this year and makes misdemeanor and some pardoned felony convictions eligible for record restriction for the first time in Georgia, the need for expungement services is greater than ever before. Events like these help us reach as many Georgians as possible.
11Alive’s Bill Liss, also a volunteer attorney for Georgia Justice Project, covered the event this weekend as part of a larger conversation on reducing barriers to opportunity for Georgians impacted by the criminal justice system. Watch the story below!
