Criminal Records Volunteer CLE

Join GJP’s legal team for a FREE Continuing Legal Education (CLE) presentation* covering Georgia's record clearing law. This presentation includes information on how to read a criminal record, and what types of legal relief are available to those with a criminal record. You will also learn more about current opportunities to volunteer with GJP’s Criminal Records Program!

This CLE will be followed by an optional Criminal Records Clinic from 11:00am-12:00pm for lawyers to take on a record clearing case for a Georgia Justice Project client.

  • This is a full-representation volunteer commitment which will take between 10-15 hours to complete.
  • You will be matched with a GJP client to complete the legal work necessary to clear their record.
  • Volunteers will be provided with everything they’ll need to successfully represent their client, including template petitions, checklists to guide their work and GJP attorney support throughout the process.
  • The Clinic is typically held the 2nd Friday morning of each month.  An opportunity to sign up for these later dates will be provided at the training.

This CLE will take place in person on September 28th from 9-11 AM (and 11AM-12PM, if you attend the optional clinic) at the office of the Jones Day law firm. 1221 Peachtree Street, N.E., Suite 400, Atlanta, Georgia 30361. There will also be a virtual option. Please indicate below if you are planning to attend in-person or virtually.

* Approved for two-hour general credit by the GA State Bar. If you would like to receive CLE credit, an additional fee will be assessed by the Bar.
